After two days of pulsating action at Pinehurst No.2, the third round of the 2024 US Open is here, and here’s all you need to know ahead of Saturday’s action.

Ludvig Aberg currently leads the way on five under, one shot clear of Bryson DeChambeau, Thomas Detry, and Patrick Cantlay.

Rory McIlroy, Tony Finau and Mattieu Pavon sit T5 on three under par and will be looking to go low on Saturday.

Key storylines to follow on day three of the US Open

Work to do for Scottie Scheffler

Scottie Scheffler just made the cut after carding a four-over 74 on Friday. The American failed to record a birdie and cut a frustrated figure at times.

After finishing early, the 2024 Masters winner waited anxiously to find out if he had made the weekend.

However, with the cut at plus-five, the American will now be looking to go low on Saturday and play his way back into contention.

All eyes on Aberg

Aberg has put on a ball-striking clinic over the first two rounds, and the Swede will be looking to continue his fine form into the weekend.

In search of his first major title, the 24-year-old will be looking to stave off the advances of DeChambeau and McIlroy, who will no doubt pile on the pressure during the third round.

Thomas Detry, the surprise package

Belgian Thomas Detry produced one of the rounds of the day on Friday and is now firmly in contention alongside Cantlay and DeChambeau.

Perhaps under the radar, the 31-year-old has impressed in the major championships this year and could make a serious tilt for the US Open title, should Aberg give up an inch over the weekend.
