The US Ryder Cup team is nowhere near finalised at the moment, and Keegan Bradley will have some incredibly difficult decisions to make next week.

The European Ryder Cup team seem to be far more settled right now, with less media attention on them than Bradley and his players ahead of the showdown at Bethpage Black in September.

Bradley will first have to decide whether to pick himself for the US Ryder Cup team, and aside from that huge call, there are numerous big-name American players who are currently out of form.

Justin Thomas and Collin Morikawa are two players who have really struggled over the past few months.

Thomas is just one of the players who have urged Bradley to pick himself for the Ryder Cup team, so the 39-year-old has plenty of support behind him.

The Europeans will be loving the fact that the man from Vermont has so many difficult decisions to make.

Bradley does have world number one Scottie Scheffler on his Ryder Cup team, and the 29-year-old will be the talisman for the United States at Bethpage.

Having Scheffler on the team will undoubtedly give the hosts an edge before the competition even begins.

And now the Americans have been handed a massive psychological boost ahead of the clash with Team Europe in New York State next month.

US Ryder Cup team handed a psychological boost after what just happened on LIV

With the Americans in desperate need of a big boost ahead of the Ryder Cup, golf fans stateside may well be rejoicing what just happened on LIV Golf.

Jon Rahm led out his Legion XIII team against The Cleeks on Friday in the quarter-finals of the LIV Team Championship in Michigan.

The Spaniard faced off against Adrian Meronk at The Cardinal at Saint John’s.

Unexpectedly, Meronk beat Rahm 2&1 in what was a huge blow for Legion XIII and, indeed, the European Ryder Cup team.

Heading to Bethpage Black on the back of a match-play defeat against Meronk – someone who has never won on the PGA Tour – is hardly ideal preparation.

However, Rahm will have the chance to put things right in his singles match against Phil Mickelson on Saturday.

The 30-year-old Spaniard needs a big win against his old friend in Michigan in order to restore his confidence in match-play format ahead of the Ryder Cup next month.

Jon Rahm’s Ryder Cup record

The two-time major champion actually has a strong Ryder Cup record.

Here are his results in full from the three Ryder Cups he has played at:

ResultsRahm’s totals
Matches played12
Won6
Lost3
Halves3
Singles points1.5
Total points7.5

Rahm lost to Scottie Scheffler in the singles 4&3 at Whistling Straits in 2021 and halved his match with the world number one at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in 2023.

Way back in 2018 in Paris, the Spaniard famously beat Tiger Woods 2&1.

Rahm will be one of the leading players for Europe at the Ryder Cup next month, and Luke Donald probably will be counting on him to return at least three points from his matches at Bethpage.

Team Europe will be hoping that Rahm’s defeat to Meronk doesn’t linger on in his memory for too long.
