The Hong Kong Open on the Asian Tour may not have been attracting much of the attention from the large majority of the golfing world, but that all changed on Saturday as Patrick Reed wrote his name in the history books with his third round performance.

Patrick Reed became only the second player in the history of the Asian Tour to post a 59, with the American taking a three shot lead into the final round at the Hong Kong Open.

Reed made 11 birdies on his way to joining John Catlin by breaking 60 on the tour. With that, here is a look at the lowest scores on each of the three main tours in the men’s game.

The lowest scores on the PGA Tour, LIV Golf and the DP World Tour

DP World Tour – Oliver Fisher

Oliver Fisher has the distinction of being the only player who has ever broken 60 on the DP World Tour, having done so with a 59 at the Portugal Masters back in 2018.

Fisher made 10 birdies and one eagle, but remarkably the Englishman could only finish the week in a tie for seventh. It was definitely a moment which showed why, according to Rory McIlroy, Fisher was tipped for a brighter future than McIlroy when they were youngsters.

LIV Golf – Bryson DeChambeau

What was incredible about Bryson DeChambeau‘s 58 at LIV Golf Greenbrier in 2023 was the fact that he actually made a bogey on the eighth hole. DeChambeau made 13 birdies in the final round to ensure that he won on LIV Golf for the first time.

His second win on the tour came just a month later in Chicago.

PGA Tour – Jim Furyk

Jim Furyk is the only player to ever break 60 on two occasions on the PGA Tour. The 2018 Ryder Cup captain became the first player to shoot 58 on the tour at the 2016 Travelers Championship.

Furyk got off to the most incredible start, having reached the turn at eight under par for the day – and he then birdied the first three holes on the back nine.

There was obviously the potential for the then-46-year-old to post a number which would probably never be beaten, but he actually played the final six holes in just one under par.

If there was ever a way to feel deflated after a 58.
