Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson have been involved in their fair share of battles over the years.
During the mid-2000s, the duo were classed as the gold standard on the PGA Tour. And if Woods wasn’t around, there’s no doubt Mickelson would’ve landed more major titles.
The pair were also involved in a feud started by Woods’ caddie, Steve Williams. The New Zealander’s unsavoury comments on Mickelson forced Tiger to apologise on his behalf.
It should also come as no surprise to hear the pair have traded jibes over the years. Woods produced a brutal three-word dig at Mickelson during the 2001 Masters, and the lefty is never shy to throw one in his rival’s direction.
A reasonably recent back-and-forth moment actually occurred during the 2020 ‘Match’, in which Woods and Peyton Manning took on Mickelson and NFL legend Tom Brady.
Tiger Woods reacts to Phil Mickelson’s long drive claim

During ‘The Match’ at Medalist Golf Club in Florida, Mickelson informed Woods that the upcoming drive was worth a significant financial reward.
“Tiger, this drive is for another million and five,” Mickelson said. “I’ve had the coffee, I’ve got to activate the calves, and I’ve got to step on one here.”
Woods then responded humorously: “Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this is what we have to listen to every time we play.”
Who won the 2020 Match?
Woods and Manning would eventually seal a narrow victory at Medalist Golf Club. The pair were three shots up after the first six holes before being hauled back.
The 15-time major winner, however, managed to seal a one-shot victory on the 18th. Brady, in particular, struggled during the early part of his round. In fact, Brooks Koepka even said he would donate $100,000 if the NFL legend made a par on the front nine.
When Woods and Mickelson first faced off in 2018, it was the lefty who ran out victorious and clinched the lucrative $9m prize at Shadow Creek.
The latest edition of a one-off match saw Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy comfortably beat Brooks Koepak and Bryson DeChambeau in Las Vegas on Tuesday evening.
