We’re running out of superlatives to use for Scottie Scheffler now, due to the exceptional quality and remarkable consistency of his game.

Scheffler has been totally dominant on the PGA Tour in 2025, with his sixth win of the season coming on Sunday at the Procore Championship.

The 29-year-old world number one can count two major championships, a Signature Event and a FedEx Cup Playoff event as part of those six victories.

He set a new record this week as well. Scheffler has now finished inside the top eight in 15 PGA Tour tournaments in a row.

Interestingly, Scheffler narrowly missed out on another PGA Tour record at the Procore Championship when he shot a round of 70 on day one.

Had he taken one stroke less to get around, he would have broken 70 and subsequently recorded his 22nd consecutive round in the 60s.

However, that will mean nothing to him. The man from Dallas, Texas, is only concerned with winning golf tournaments, and he did that in style on Sunday.

Scheffler actually made a slow start to the 2025 season, with many fans and journalists suggesting he would struggle to emulate his heroics from 2024.

And if he is ever trying to pinpoint the moment when everything turned around for him this season, he need look back no further than early May.

Scottie Scheffler’s decision in May changed the course of his 2025 PGA Tour season

After his slow start to the 2025 season, the 29-year-old finally got off the mark by winning the CJ Cup Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch in early May.

And just a few days later, he made what for him was the most important decision of his season.

The PGA Tour’s best players gathered at Philadelphia Cricket Club the week following the CJ Cup for the sixth Signature Event of the season.

However, with the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow taking place the week after, Scheffler decided to skip the Truist in order to spend time at home with his family.

Rather than chase the money in the short-term, the world number one made a bold decision that would end up benefiting him greatly in the long term.

It’s actually fair to argue that Scheffler not playing the Truist completely changed the course of his season. His win at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson in his hometown took a lot out of him.

And playing in the Signature Event at Philly Cricket immediately after would have been draining to say the least. When the body gets tired, all sorts of bad things happen to the golf swing.

We obviously don’t know for sure whether his swing would have been adversely affected by playing in the Truist, and knowing Scheffler, he may well have won that week as well!

Going on what has happened since that week though, it’s fair to assume that skipping the Truist Championship worked wonders for him.

He came back the following week at Quail Hollow fully refreshed and ready to go again, and he has never looked back since.

There are many barometers by which we can judge Scheffler’s brilliance.

However, the simplest of them all is his results.

So let’s take a look at how he has fared since that decision to miss out on playing in the Signature Event at Philadelphia Cricket Club.

We all know how good Scheffler is, and looking at those results since May accentuates just how unbelievably dominant he has been.

The scary thing about him is that there is absolutely no let-up. He will be determined to keep getting better and better with every year that passes for the next decade or so.

Scheffler has already broken numerous PGA Tour records, including one this week just gone! Now he will have the likes of Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods in his sights as he continues his relentless charge towards greatness.
