In the world of professional golf, it’s difficult to pick two players who are more different to one another than Scottie Scheffler and Bryson DeChambeau.

Scheffler is a man who prides himself on precision, control and consistency, while DeChambeau‘s game is all about power, brawn and explosiveness.

Both are exceptionally good golfers in their own right. They have faced off against one another on numerous occasions in the past, and Scheffler got the better of DeChambeau at the PGA Championship in Quail Hollow in May.

The 29-year-old with 16 PGA Tour titles to his name is the world number one by quite some distance, whilst his fellow Dallas resident has slipped down the rankings considerably since joining LIV Golf.

Scheffler has dominated world golf over the past couple of years, and he is clearly a lot more dominant than DeChambeau.

However, there have been questions asked regarding whether Scheffler would have won as much as he has done had the likes of DeChambeau remained on the PGA Tour.

We will never know the answer to that question, but it would be great if the PGA Tour and LIV agreed upon some kind of merger so we can at least see them compete against one another on a regular basis once again.

There isn’t only one way to get the job done in the game of golf.

It is just one of the reasons why the sport is so alluring to so many people.

On the golf course, Scheffler and DeChambeau are perfect examples of that, and it seems like the same applies to the way they think about the game as well.

When speaking to the press on Tuesday ahead of The Open, Scheffler embarked on an impassioned speech regarding how winning golf tournaments does not define him as a person.

One line he said in particular really raised some eyebrows.

He said: I’m not out here to inspire someone to be the best player in the world because what’s the point? This is not a fulfilling life.

And that comment from Scheffler proved just how different he is to his fellow Ryder Cup team member DeChambeau.

The 31-year-old LIV golfer’s entire persona revolves around inspiring the next generation of golfers coming through.

That is why he started his YouTube channel back in 2021, and it seems very much like his fulfilment in life is strongly linked to how many other golfers he manages to inspire.

It’s not to say that Scheffler’s way is right and DeChambeau’s is wrong, far from it in fact. It just goes to show once again how two players who have mastered their craft go about their business in completely opposite ways.
