Collin Morikawa’s place on Keegan Bradley’s Ryder Cup team at Bethpage Black is far from guaranteed right now.
That scenario would have been unthinkable at the start of the 2025 PGA Tour season, with Morikawa one of the most successful players over the past few years.
Two weeks ago, Morikawa suggested that he was keen to play his way onto the Ryder Cup team, but that is not looking likely right now.
Bradley will have some big decisions to make ahead of the Ryder Cup, when he has to name his six captain’s picks after the Tour Championship.
The good news for the Americans is that numerous players are finding form at just the right time including the likes of Cameron Young, Harris English and Ben Griffin.

However, others have regressed badly this season including Morikawa, Justin Thomas and Xander Schauffele.
Even Bradley’s form has dropped off since he won the Travelers Championship in June.
What Bradley would give now to see Morikawa rediscover his best form before the showdown with Europe at Bethpage Black.
Keegan Bradley has a big Ryder Cup decision regarding Collin Morikawa
The 28-year-old has really struggled this week at the BMW Championship.
He finished at four-over par for his first two rounds after carding a 70 and a 74.
Now, Morikawa actually showed big improvements during round three, and got back to one-under par for the tournament at the time of writing.
However, his form since March will still be a huge concern for Bradley.
Morikawa has just one top-10 to his name since The Players Championship and his game is a really poor fit for Bethpage Black, what with his lack of power off the tee and questionable short game.

It’s actually bizarre to see what has happened to him over the past five months, given how consistently good he has been since 2021.
Morikawa is not in a good spot right now, with the Ryder Cup just six weeks away, and he is trying desperately to turn things around before Bethpage.
However, it could be argued that he is actually trying too hard, rather than allowing the good golf come to him.
A big reset is needed for Morikawa, and he may well run out of time before the start of the Ryder Cup.
Collin Morikawa’s stats on the PGA Tour since March
The two-time major champion has been completely lost with his swing over the past month or so, but his poor form actually stretches all the way back to the end of March.
Here are his results since he finished in a tie for 10th at The Players:
| Results since the Players Championship | Morikawa’s totals |
| Events played | 12 |
| Wins | 0 |
| Top-5s | 0 |
| Top-10s | 1 |
| Top-25s | 6 |
| Missed cuts | 3 |
For a player with Morikawa’s talent and reputation, those results are nowhere near good enough, and he will be concerned himself about his form heading into the Ryder Cup.
If he does fail to qualify automatically, he will most likely receive a captain’s pick from Bradley.
However, Morikawa is far from assured of that and if Bradley wanted to be really brave, he could well leave him off the team.
That would be a decision that could make or break his captaincy.
