Jon Rahm has been one of the game’s most intriguing characters over the last few years, with the Spaniard becoming the biggest signing in LIV Golf’s history back in December 2023.

If there is a deal done between the PGA Tour and the PIF, Jon Rahm will arguably be one of the players fans will be desperate to see back in the fold as soon as possible.

It was securing Rahm’s move which was LIV Golf‘s biggest statement in its first few years in existence. At the time, he was the Masters champion, while he was clearly one of the best players on the planet. He was also someone who could not have been stronger in pledging their allegiance to the PGA Tour in the past.

With that, it would have been fascinating to have seen what led to Rahm’s decision on the Netflix series Full Swing.

Why Jon Rahm declined to take part in Full Swing

Full Swing has provided an interesting look behind the curtain over the last few years. And the producers probably could not have picked a better time to get involved, with the game so divided.

However, Rahm is not one of the players who has taken part so far. And in early 2023 ahead of the first season’s release, the two-time major champion went on to explain on the Fore Play Podcast why he had rejected the chance to take part.

“I think the Netflix documentary’s going to be big, even though I’m not doing it. I think it’s going to be big,” he said.

“No, I didn’t want to do it. I wanted to see what the first season was going to be like before I attempted it. And I’m not going to lie, with all these people going to LIV, I don’t know if they’re going to be in it next year. If they need to make someone a villain, I’m a very good candidate for them to make a villain. I don’t want to be, I’m not that guy.

“What you see on the golf course and you see off the golf course, is a very different person. So I don’t want to be put in that light.

“When I saw Verstappen saying they were making up things about them, I’m like, god, if they’re making things up about something that’s so exciting to watch, what can they make up about a golfer’s life?”

Why series three of Full Swing really missed the mark as Bryson DeChambeau decided against taking part

Full Swing definitely provided some fantastic insight. However, there is an argument that the latest season was underwhelming, with many of the most notable events of the year taking place in one episode.

There were some superb moments, including the look at the life of Gary Woodland. But they also had to deal with the likes of Bryson DeChambeau and Xander Schauffele not being involved.

The pair won three of the four major titles in 2024, but producer Chad Mumm recently explained that DeChambeau turned down the chance to be interviewed.

With Rahm not involved either, Full Swing would perhaps have been better off focusing a lot more on the names such as Woodland and Joel Dahmen who probably do not get the same amount of love during the live coverage of tournaments.
