The Renaissance Club is now considered one of the top links golf courses in the United Kingdom, and it’s home to the Scottish Open.
The tournament previously changed locations frequently, until it signed an eight-year deal with the North Berwick-based course in 2019.
The decision has been a resounding success, with thrilling golf almost every year, most notably Robert MacIntyre’s special victory on home soil in 2024.
The Golfing Gazette shares how amateur golfers can play at The Renaissance Club, with other key information like membership fees.

Courses at The Renaissance Club
There is only one 18-hole golf course at The Renaissance Club. It’s a 7,282-yard par 70 for the professionals, designed by Tom Doak.
It might not be St Andrews or Royal Troon, but the club is widely regarded as one of the best in Scotland and has a worldwide reputation.
With the Scottish Open taking place just one week before the Open Championship, it’s no surprise that many top players are signing up to take on The Renaissance Club’s stern links challenge.
How to play at The Renaissance Club
The Renaissance Club is exclusive to members, so it’s difficult to play there unless you are a PGA Tour player, of course.
Membership is rumoured to cost between £5,000 and £10,000 every year, after an initiation fee of around £30,000, so it is no wonder there are not thousands of members.
However, The Renaissance Club did recently run the ‘One Time Experience’ campaign, where amateur golfers could play for a more reasonable fee.
The prices were set at £480 for 18 holes and one night’s accommodation in a single room, or £690 for two guests to play and stay together at the club.
Let’s hope the club decides to run a similar campaign soon!
