Brian Campbell’s victory at the John Deere Classic last weekend proved something important about professional golf.

People assume the modern game is all about distance, with the likes of Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau driving the ball well over 300 yards.

Of course, the ability to advance the ball a long way down the fairway is valuable, but you do not have to be a big hitter to be successful.

The Golfing Gazette looks at the five shortest hitters on the PGA Tour in the 2025 season, including Campbell.

Who are the shortest hitters on the PGA Tour?

Campbell is actually the shortest hitter on the PGA Tour; he ranks last out of 174 players for driving distance in 2025.

The John Deere Classic and Mexico Championship winner makes up for it with his accuracy (66.52%). Only 21 players find the fairway more often.

Paul Peterson (280 yards) and Andrew Putnam (282 yards) are the next two shortest hitters on Tour at the moment.

American golf legends Matt Kuchar and Brandt Snedeker each have nine wins on the PGA Tour.

The pair, who have six Ryder Cup appearances between them, rank fourth- and fifth-last for driving distance this season.

How the PGA Tour’s shortest hitters have performed in 2025

Campbell is having an excellent 2025. He, Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Sepp Straka, Ben Griffin, and Ryan Fox are the only players to win twice on the PGA Tour this season.

The same cannot be said for Peterson, who has missed the cut 10 times. His best finish was a tie for 12th at the Puerto Rico Open in March.

Putnam is having a strong season despite his third-worst driving distance. He finished in the top 10 at the Rocket Classic and Canadian Open last month.

Kuchar came joint-fifth at last week’s John Deere Classic alongside Max Homa and four other players. His T25 at the Memorial Tournament was also impressive.

Snedeker even managed a top 10 at Jack Nicklaus’ Memorial Tournament, despite struggling for the majority of the season to date.
