Rory McIlroy was one of the standout players on the PGA Tour in 2025, having finished his season with three wins.
McIlroy was among the top PGA Tour putters in the latest campaign, which just ended at The RSM Classic.
The Northern Irishman is next in action at the Australian Open, which takes place in Melbourne next month.
That appearance comes shortly after McIlroy won the Race to Dubai, with his PGA Tour momentum having also spilled onto the DP World Tour.

Comparing Rory McIlroy’s 2025 driving stats to Tiger Woods’ in 2000
McIlroy has rated his season 10/10, but just how does it compare to Tiger Woods’ unforgettable campaign in 2000?
One key area worth analysing is their driving stats, an area of the game in which both players have proven proficient to say the least.
Do you think Tiger Woods can win another PGA Tour event?
McIlroy ranked fourth for Strokes Gained: Off the Tee in 2025 with his figure of 0.671, a stat that wasn’t available for Woods in 2000.
The American icon did, however, rank first for total driving and second for driving distance, compared to ranks of 84th and second respectively for McIlroy.
And the Northern Irishman is way down in 177th for driving accuracy, while Woods ranked 54th in that area in 2000.
| Tiger Woods | Rory McIlroy | |||
| Rank | Value | Stat | Value | Rank |
| 1st | 56 | Total Driving | 179 | 84th |
| 2nd | 298.0 | Driving Distance | 323.0 | 2nd |
| 54th | 71.22% | Driving Accuracy | 51.24% | 177th |
How has driving distance on the PGA Tour changed from 25 years ago?
It is, of course, also worth noting the PGA Tour averages of the respective seasons, with bigger hitting being more prevalent with each passing year.
The average driving distance in 2000 was 272.7 yards, compared to 302.8 yards in the most recent season.
The number of players averaging 300+ yards back at the turn of the century was just one, compared to 115 now.
What some golfing legends think about Tiger Woods
And only two players averaged 290+ yards 25 years ago, compared to 169/180 in the 2025 PGA Tour season.
It really was an extraordinary season from Woods back then, during which he won nine times, including three major championships.
Woods is out injured this season, but McIlroy managed to shine in his absence, completing the career Grand Slam by winning The Masters.
