Bryson DeChambeau seriously angered the worldwide golfing community back in 2019, with Rich Beem unable to contain his anger.

DeChambeau left the PGA Tour to join LIV Golf back in 2022, and there may well have been some sighs of relief from the players who remained.

Interestingly, DeChambeau recently demanded a PGA Tour and LIV unification but as things stand, talks between the two parties are non-existent.

During his time on the PGA Tour, the 32-year-old certainly wasn’t the most popular of characters and he seemed to ruffle plenty of feathers.

The two-time major champion fell out with multiple players during that spell of his career including the likes of Brooks Koepka and Rory McIlroy.

Which LIV golfer do you most want to see return to the PGA Tour?

DeChambeau criticised McIlroy at the Masters after the Northern Irishman failed to speak to him once during the final round.

However, the American was widely criticized for those remarks, unsurprisingly so.

There has always been the feeling that it’s DeChambeau against the world. That’s certainly the way he thinks at least.

Back in 2019, Rich Beem and numerous other professional golfers were genuinely outraged by what DeChambeau did during the Northern Trust at Liberty National in New Jersey.

Rich Beem pleaded with the PGA Tour to disqualify Bryson DeChambeau

Throughout his career in the game, DeChambeau has attracted his fair share of criticism.

The somewhat aloof American just seems to rub some people up the wrong way.

And his behavior during a PGA Tour event back in 2019 was simply unacceptable according to many who were watching.

Beem was genuinely baffled by what he was watching at Liberty National six years ago.

He said: THIS HAS GOT TO STOP!!!!! PGA Tour, if you don’t do something about this, SHAME ON YOU!!! As a member, I’m OUTRAGED you can tolerate this. You talk about “protecting the field”, then protect it by penalizing or DQing this type of behavior!! ENOUGH!!!

In fairness to DeChambeau, he has definitely improved his pace of play since then, but he is still considered to be one of the slowest players in the professional game.

However, it has to be said that he has evolved into one of the more popular players in the game over the past few years.

So perhaps his meticulous approach to the game is something that the new generation of fans are prepared to accept, due to the excitement he offers in other areas.

Luke Donald responded to Bryson DeChambeau’s slow play

After Beem’s message about DeChambeau’s slow play, a whole host of professional golfers responded, including Luke Donald.

The 2023 and 2025 winning Ryder Cup captain lamented the 32-year-old’s tedious approach to putting.

And after all that miss read it by 2 cups, Donald said.

DP World Tour golfer Eddie Pepperell also responded.

He said: Just look at Tommy and Justin, both looking completely bored. Slow players do this to their playing partners making the game less enjoyable. Problem is, the unaffected single minded twit in this instance, doesn’t care much for others.

The PGA Tour have allowed the slow play problem to worsen every single season, and we’re now in a situation whereby penalty shots absolutely need to be handed out.

If the powers that be at the PGA Tour fail to implement some kind of new rule in that regard, they may risk damaging their product moving forward.
