If you asked golfers who they would most like to play a round of golf with, it’s likely they’d say Tiger Woods.
The greatest golfer of all time is a hero to an entire generation of golf fans, so spending 18 holes in his company is a bucket-list event for many. And for others who fancy themselves as would-be pros, it’s a chance to test yourself against the 15-time major winner.
So imagine playing a round against Tiger Woods and getting a compliment on your game from him!
Woods has good relationships with a number of celebrities, including Michael Jordan who he frequently played with. But two celebrities in particular stood out to Woods as the best non-golfers he’s ever seen.

The two best celebrity golfers according to Tiger Woods
During a Q&A before The Match in 2022, Woods was asked who the best celebrity golfer was, and he couldn’t decide between two.
The 82-time winner on the PGA Tour said, “It’s either Smoltz or Romo. They both can play golf really well.”
John Smoltz is a Hall-of-Fame pitcher in the MLB, who won the World Series in 1995 with the Atlanta Braves. He’s good friends with Woods, but that’s not why he was given the nod. He says he’s a +4 handicap, and he qualified for the US Senior Open in 2018.
Meanwhile, Tony Romo is a former quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys in the NFL, and he’s teed it up on the PGA Tour in the past. He was even involved in the US Open qualifying in 2025.

Romo’s best score on the tour was in 2020 at the Safeway Open. He shot an opening round 70, but he followed up with a 78 to miss the cut at four over par.
That was one of four professional events he’s played, having teed off three times on the Korn Ferry Tour.
Should Tiger Woods join the PGA Tour Champions?
Meanwhile, Smoltz has played 10 Senior PGA Tour events, making the cut eight times. The legendary pitcher called qualifying for the Senior US Open “the number one thing I have ever accomplished” after he won a three-hole playoff.
The tournament didn’t go as he might have hoped, as he shot a 15-over 85 on his opening round, but even qualifying was an incredible feat for someone that spent his life playing baseball.
