Arnold Palmer is among the all-time golfing greats, with seven major championship wins among his career honors.

Palmer is among the richest golfers in history, but he will be more fondly remembered for his ability and class on the course.

He enjoyed most of his major success at The Masters, having triumphed at Augusta National on four occasions.

The King was a hugely popular figure in his prime, and indeed long after Palmer called time on his glittering career.

Palmer is certainly part of the debate when it comes to the greatest golfer ever, but he made his feelings clear on the matter once upon a time.

“What can’t be argued is this: Tiger Woods is the most dominant, most skilled player we’ve ever seen,” said Palmer, as per his official Instagram.

Jack Nicklaus labelled Palmer the best putter he’d seen, but of course his superb ability wasn’t just limited to the greens.

He outshone most others elsewhere, but especially when it came to popularising and commercialising the sport itself.

However, also helping draw huge numbers to golf was Woods, who simply blew everyone away when he was breaking out.

After a simply phenomenal start to his career, Woods has gone on to win 15 major championships, second only to the 18 of Nicklaus.

Their fellow legend Palmer isn’t far behind in the all-time list, which also includes other icons such as Ben Hogan and Gary Player.

The greatest of all time debate won’t stop anytime soon, although Woods’ chances of improving his status further have been really hurt in recent times.

He’s been absent from competitive golf all season due to injury, with Woods undergoing back surgery for the seventh time in his career earlier in 2025.
