Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas are extremely close friends away from the golf course.

Spieth and his good pal Thomas are the same age and they grew up playing against each other during their junior golf days.

Interestingly, both Thomas and Spieth missed out on the 2024 Presidents Cup side, but they’ve still managed to play 13 matches together when representing the USA in team competition.

Spieth then missed the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black this year, but his good friend made Keegan Bradley‘s team.

Thomas proved his worth at the Ryder Cup this year at Bethpage Black, especially during the singles matches where he turned things around to beat Tommy Fleetwood 1 up.

What do you think is the real reason why Jordan Spieth has not won on the PGA Tour since 2022?

In fairness, Thomas hasn’t been anywhere near his best over the past few years, just like Spieth.

However, it wasn’t too long ago when the duo formed a formidable partnership for the United States.

Whether Justin Thomas likes having Jordan Spieth as a partner

Spieth’s game is notoriously unpredictable.

His driving can be horrendous at times while hitting wayward approach shots into greens is far from unusual for the former world number one.

On paper, Spieth is far from the perfect foursomes partner, is he?

At the same time, his uncanny ability to roll in putts from long range is a major bonus of partnering up with him during team competition.

During the Presidents Cup at Quail Hollow back in 2022, Thomas was asked about what it’s like having Spieth as a partner.

He replied: “I’ve said this in the team events before in the past. It is just really, really nice having Jordan as a partner and him being over a 20 or 25-footer and actually being on his team,” Thomas said. “Or seeing him in a bunker and him being on my team. You know what I’m saying?

“I love him to death, But no, I’m not rooting for [the lucky breaks] every single shot over the course of the entire year. This week, to be able to do that, is nice.

“Anything and everything he does on the golf course does not surprise me.”

Thomas clearly loves playing alongside Spieth when representing the USA.

Surely every single American golf fan would surely love to see that partnership back in action at the Ryder Cup at Adare Manor in 2027.

Record of Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas as a pairing

Spieth and Thomas have been paired up together at the Ryder Cup and the Presidents Cup on numerous occasions in the past.

Here is their career record as a partnership:

Spieth and Thomas quite clearly have real chemistry with one another out on the golf course.

However, Spieth’s recent regression meant that he missed out on the Presidents Cup at Royal Montreal in 2024 and the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black in 2025.

Spieth will be desperate to rediscover his best form ahead of the Presidents Cup next year and the Ryder Cup in 2027 so that he can rekindle his partnership with Thomas.
