Sir Nick Faldo has forged a reputation as one of the most uncompromising golf analysts since he hung up his clubs.
Nick Faldo has been super-critical of LIV Golf in the past, suggesting that the majority of their players have lost their hunger to compete.
Faldo doesn’t pull any punches when giving his opinions on the modern-day game.
That is why the six-time major champion has enjoyed such a successful commentary career.

Faldo ripped into the US players being paid to play at the Ryder Cup, but two years ago, it was a clash between two European stars which caught the Englishman’s attention.
Nick Faldo took one player’s side after Sergio Garcia vs Rory McIlroy spat
Faldo is someone who journalists always turn to when any kind of controversy in the world of professional golf emerges.
However, back in 2023, the Englishman took it upon himself to get involved in a spat between two of the game’s biggest names.
Sergio Garcia was embroiled in a war of words with Rory McIlroy two years ago, and Faldo put himself right in the middle of the argument.
McIlroy criticized LIV Golf as an entity, and those who jumped ship from the PGA Tour to join the Saudi-backed outfit.
And Garcia responded in no holds barred fashion.

The Spaniard said: “I think it is very sad. I think that we’ve done so many things together and had so many experiences that for him to throw that away just because I decided to go to a different tour, well, it doesn’t seem very mature; lacking maturity, really.”
Faldo then took to his X account and sided with McIlroy.
The six-time major winner said: “Now this is rich coming from the most immature player I’ve ever witnessed!!“
Faldo and Garcia haven’t seen eye to eye since the 2008 Ryder Cup, when the Englishman captained the European side.
The six-time major champion described Garcia as ‘useless’ after Europe’s defeat to the USA at Valhalla and he was widely criticized for his choice of words.
As mentioned earlier though, Faldo calls it how he sees it, and he isn’t afraid of whether people like what he has to say or not.
Sergio Garcia revealed what his relationship with Rory McIlroy was like before LIV
Back in 2024, Garcia opened up on whether or not he viewed McIlroy as a genuine friend during his time on the PGA Tour.
He said: “I feel like I’m fortunate to have a lot of friends. I have always had a good relationship with a lot of players. On the PGA Tour I got along very well with Rory, Tommy Fleetwood, Luke Donald and Rickie Fowler.
“On LIV, I have a really good relationship with my teammates at Fireballs: Joaquin Niemann, Carlos Ortiz, and Bryson. We are having a good time out there.”
Garcia may have got on well with McIlroy back in the day, but their relationship is clearly not the same now, and that’s a real shame.
Hopefully they can put their differences aside moving forward.
