Gary Player is just as well-known for his incredible fitness routine as he is for his remarkable record in the game.
Player won a mind-boggling 159 professional tournaments worldwide throughout his career, including nine major championships.
And the South African is still not slowing down at the age of 89! That said, he does spend just as much time giving his opinion on the current events in the world of professional golf as he does out on the golf course.
Player is often highly critical of the modern game, and never holds back when it comes to delivering his opinion on what he thinks is right and wrong.

Somewhat bizarrely, Player suggested that Jordan Spieth is the best golfer in the world back in August.
So he does sometimes miss the mark with his views. However, his golf game is pretty much still on point.
The ball and club-head speed Gary Player produced at the age of 86
Player forged a reputation as one of the hardest workers in the game back in the day, both on the driving range and in the gym.
And he has continued that work ethic on into his latter years.
Back in 2022, Player was working hard on the driving range in Florida.
After his time on the range, he took to his X account to share a video of his session.
And then the nine-time major champion posted the numbers he clocked up. Remember, he was 86 years old at the time!
Honestly, those numbers really are unbelievable given his age.
And they just go to show that if you keep yourself fit, golf truly is a game that you can play well into your 80s and perhaps even 90s.
Gary Player picks the best golfer he has ever seen play the game
Surprisingly, Player didn’t opt for Jack Nicklaus. Nor did he choose Arnold Palmer, Tiger Woods or Tom Watson.
The South African named Ben Hogan as the best to ever do it when he was asked who his ‘greatest of all time’ is.
When asked if anyone stands out as the best player in the game a few years ago, he said: “Not right now. There are great players but nobody is dominating. When Tiger Woods was at the peak of his powers then yes, or Nicklaus or Hogan, yes… they stood out. Hogan is still the best golfer I have ever seen. I’ve never seen anybody close to his swing. He changed his swing entirely to hit that fade and he said when he eventually found out how to swing, he was too old to put it fully into practice. That’s some thought!“
Hogan was sheer class in every sense.
He was involved in a devastating car crash in 1949 but bounced back after recovering from surgery to win six more major championships, taking his total to nine for his career.
Hogan was a special, special golfer in his heyday but Player was right up there with him, and the fact that he’s still clocking near 90mph club-head speeds is truly incredible.
