Adam Scott was asked directly about his fellow Australians – Greg Norman and Cam Smith – joining LIV Golf back in 2022.

Scott remained loyal to the PGA Tour after Norman played a lead role in LIV Golf‘s inception back in June 2022.

And just a few months later, Cam Smith jumped ship to join Norman over on LIV.

Smith’s game has regressed since joining LIV, and despite the fact that Scott continues to add more distance to his drives every season, he is without a PGA Tour win in five years.

However, both are still considered to be elite players. Meanwhile, Norman is now in search of new challenges after leaving LIV Golf.

Smith was surprised when news of Norman leaving LIV broke and the two-time Open champion finally left his role with the Saudi-backed outfit earlier this year.

The Australian legend will always be remembered for his astounding ability on the golf course but it’s fair to say that he has tarnished his legacy over the past few years.

Adam Scott’s opinion of Greg Norman and Cam Smith after LIV Golf moves

Firstly, Scott was asked whether he felt any kind of animosity towards Norman after he spearheaded the formation of LIV Golf three years ago.

He said: Definitely not, Scott said.

This is something he [Norman] truly believes in and I don’t begrudge him for going for it one bit at all. Sure, it’s rocked the orders of golf, which has never really happened in this way before. But I’m optimistic that people’s [intentions] are still good, and therefore we will come to a better place.

The 2013 Masters champion was then asked whether the likes of Cam Smith and Marc Leishman made a mistake by joining LIV Golf.

He said: “I completely understand anyone doing it. They’ve been offered an opportunity and it suits them. All power to them. I really want it to work out for them.

I’m not trying to play a peacemaker. Maybe because I’m a little less emotive about it, I can be a voice of reason for one side or the other. I don’t necessarily see LIV as pure evil for the game of golf. Hopefully, we can get beyond everyone having shots at each other, and each organization can move on.

But did Scott think about joining LIV himself?

The Australian said: Why am I still on the PGA Tour is because it suits me best to be on the PGA Tour. It’s as simple as that, really.

There’s one thing I think I haven’t grasped is giving up my entire professional life of trying to achieve these things here and just leaving it behind. I’m obviously not ready to do that.

Wayne Grady completely disagreed with Adam Scott about Greg Norman

Australian golfer Wayne Grady clearly had a very different view on Norman to the one held by Scott.

After Norman’s role in the inception of LIV Golf became clear, Grady let loose on ‘The Shark’.

He said: “From someone who has known Greg for 50 years, Greg is only about Greg. He has been trying to take down the PGA Tour for 30 years. “The admiration I had for what he has achieved and what he did for Australian golf is gone. For him to try and trivialise what the greats before him did to grow and create what the PGA Tour is today is an absolute disgrace.

“You should hang your head in shame, Shark.”

Grady was once very close with Norman, so for the 1990 PGA Championship winner to criticize him like that proves just how angry he was about the whole situation back in 2022.

Meanwhile, Scott took a softer stance on the matter, but quite what the future holds for Norman now remains to be seen.
