The PGA Tour received a big boost this past week with Rickie Fowler managing to put himself in contention to win the Truist Championship at Quail Hollow.

It has certainly been a turbulent few years for Rickie Fowler, with the 37-year-old often struggling for form on the PGA Tour.

Do you think Rickie Fowler is now back to his best?

Four top 10s already this year!

Remarkably, 2024 marks the only season since 2020 that Fowler has played in every major that season. That run will continue beyond 2026, with the American not in the field for The Masters last month.

He is, however, set to tee it up at Aronimink this week in the PGA Championship. And in truth, Fowler looks to have one of his best opportunities to win a major perhaps since 2017.

Rickie Fowler is edging closer to being at his best ahead of the PGA Championship

While Fowler will have been disappointed to miss out on victory at the Truist Championship, he can take plenty of belief from the fact that he managed to register a fourth top 10 finish of the season.

He is currently 17th in the FedEx Cup standings. And it would come as little surprise to see Fowler find his way onto Brandt Snedeker’s Presidents Cup team later this year.

According to the PGA Tour website, Fowler is inside the top 50 for strokes gained off the tee, approach, and putting.

Meanwhile, Fowler has finished under par for every final round he has played this year.

Rickie Fowler’s impressive scoring averages on the PGA Tour this year

In fact, Fowler is ninth for first round scoring average this season, 12th for round two, and sixth for round four.

Admittedly, Fowler’s record in the majors over the last decade is not particularly impressive. But there are signs this year that he has found something within his game and is ready to kick on.

It would not be a surprise to see Fowler secure a first PGA Tour victory in nearly three years before too long. And perhaps it would be fair to say that he has not had so many of the tools required to win majors in a very long time.
