It has always been difficult to know just how much you can read into the form of Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau going into each of the majors.

While LIV Golf does have some superb players at the top, depth has been a problem for the league throughout its existence.

Do you think Bryson DeChambeau can compete for majors not playing on the PGA Tour?

That does not mean that Jon Rahm‘s record of never finishing lower than 11th in a LIV event is not hugely impressive.

However, they would probably both argue that they have not got anywhere near the credit they deserve for the nine wins they have enjoyed between them.

Unfortunately for LIV, it has become increasingly difficult to argue that playing in their events prepares players for the majors.

And perhaps it is now fair to say that those victories are going to lose even more meaning in the years to come.

It is often the case that events gain more credibility and prestige the longer they go on.

For example, The Masters took some time to find the iconic identity it is now known for. It was known as the Augusta National Invitation Tournament initially, before officially adopting its current name in 1939.

One of the factors that defines the importance of events on the PGA Tour is the calibre of the list of previous winners. Generally, players want to win those tournaments that have been won by the likes of Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, and Tiger Woods.

With LIV’s future in serious doubt, there is a real question mark hanging over how much longer many of these events will be played for.

LIV Golf events look set to miss out on the chance to gain true credibility

The days of LIV as we currently know it are numbered. So it is not out of the question that the league sees a number of events disappear from the schedule in the next few years.

That opportunity to build a lineage may well disappear. Those events may be discontinued before they have even had a chance to gain any sort of real prestige in the eyes of the general golfing public.

Rahm and DeChambeau have surely asked themselves numerous times over the last few years whether they made the right decision in joining LIV.

There is a very real possibility that few will even factor in their wins on LIV when they consider their legacies at the end of their respective careers.
