Collin Morikawa is one of the biggest names on the PGA Tour and when he speaks, people usually listen very intently.
Morikawa has rediscovered his best form as well this season it seems, after spending far too long in the golfing doldrums.
Unfortunately for the 29-year-old, he suffered a back injury at The Players Championship earlier this month and that came at a really inopportune time, with The Masters just around the corner.

Morikawa’s withdrawal after just one hole of The Players came as a real shock to everyone, including himself.
However, if he is fully fit in time for Augusta National, he will have every chance of winning the third major championship of his career.
Morikawa is far more comfortable on the greens now than he has been since 2021.
And if he is to win the biggest tournaments once again, his ability to putt well will be crucial.
Collin Morikawa nailed it when he called for one golf club to be banned
Morikawa has endured plenty of criticism over the past couple of years for implementing the AimPoint technique on the greens.
The two-time major winner and other golfers who used the method were receiving flack from all angles last year.
Back in February 2025, Lucas Glover did not hold back with his opinion on those who use AimPoint.
“AimPoint, statistically, hasn’t helped anybody make more putts since its inception on the PGA Tour. Statistics have beared that out,“ he said.
“It’s also kinda rude to be up near the hole, stomping around, figuring out where the break is in your feet.
“It needs to be banned. It takes forever.“
And just days later, Morikawa fired back at Glover.
“I have nothing against Lucas, but if we’re banning AimPoint I think we should ban long putters as well,“ he said.
Morikawa makes a great point there. Just because Glover doesn’t like the method, it doesn’t mean it should be banned.
AimPoint is here to stay
AimPoint is another method used to help players hole more putts.
It’s fair to argue that long putters fit into exactly the same category as AimPoint.
The fact of the matter is that if AimPoint was that great, every single golfer in the world would use it.

It’s very interesting that the top two golfers in the world don’t use AimPoint, isn’t it?
The same can be said for long putters. If they were that easy to use, everybody would be rocking up to tournaments with broomhandles.
As long as the guys who use AimPoint do not take too long on the greens and don’t interfere with their playing partners’ lines, then I don’t see a problem with it.
Some people obviously don’t like it but while it’s legal, guys will obviously use the method if it helps them hole more putts.
