When you look at the leaderboard heading into the final round of the PGA Championship, it is not exactly a hot take to say that Jon Rahm appears to be the favourite to win at Aronimink.
Jon Rahm is one of the players in a tie for second, two shots back of Alex Smalley. The Spaniard would move to within an Open Championship victory of completing the Career Grand Slam with a win on Sunday.
Who will win the PGA Championship on Sunday?
It’s all to play for at Aronimink!
But with the likes of Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, and Rory McIlroy all within five shots of the lead with 18 holes to play, there is every chance of a heavyweight battle in Philadelphia.
And there is a very good reason why Rahm may be best-equipped to edge out Scheffler and McIlroy.
Jon Rahm has the experience to edge out Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy at the PGA Championship
The trio are arguably the best three players in the world right now.
So far, they have managed to win 12 majors between them. McIlroy is obviously out in front with six, while Scheffler has caught up rapidly over the last few years with four.

Rahm currently has two major wins to his name. He has, however, not won one of the game’s four biggest events since The Masters back in 2023.
But crucially, Rahm has done something that neither Scheffler nor McIlroy have managed in their careers so far.
Jon Rahm knows how to win a major when trailing with one round to play
Rahm is the only one of the three to have won a major having not led going into the final round.
In fact, both of his major victories came with Rahm trailing after 54 holes.
Scheffler led by at least three shots for three of his four major wins, while McIlroy’s 2026 Masters triumph saw him tied for the lead with one round to play for the very first time.
It is surprising that neither Scheffler nor McIlroy have won a major when trailing going into the final round.
Rahm, meanwhile, is surely the player Smalley will be most concerned about in the coming hours.
