The exclusive club Tiger Woods is not yet part of that could motivate his latest injury comeback

Seeing Tiger Woods injured and unable to compete in any golf tournaments has been an all too common sight in recent times.

Woods has recently undergone back surgery once again, adding further woe to a recovery that was already well underway from an achilles problem.

We won’t be seeing Woods in the TGL at the end of December and in all likelihood, it looks like we’ll once again be looking to The Masters to see if we can get a glimpse of the 15-time major winner.

Nevertheless, we know by now not to count Woods out of anything.

And while he might hold a number of records on the PGA Tour and in golf in general, there is one statistic and club that he is yet to join which could well boost him as he looks to return again.

Tiger Woods will be desperate to join golf’s 100 club

There isn’t a lot that Tiger Woods hasn’t achieved in golf.

His record of being world number one is unlikely to ever be passed, while his 15 majors also look a safe bet for a long time in terms of being second to Jack Nicklaus.

However, in terms of the majors he has played in, there is something of a carrot dangling there for Woods.

Tiger has appeared in 90 major championships in his career and as it stands, he is facing a battle to add to that number.

But while it’s a tough road ahead, it might be one he looks to take on as he looks to make it to the exclusive 100 club in major appearances.

Sure, Tiger could simply keep fit enough and tee it up in the Masters for the next decade and have it done with. But we all know Woods won’t do that and with four chances a year, there’s a chance for him to get this done sooner, fitness depending.

Yes, it might not seem the be-all and end-all to some. But Tiger Woods is as competitive as they come and if there’s a record to be broken or a club to join, you can bet your bottom dollar he’ll be interested.

Tiger Woods will never catch Jack Nicklaus but major motivation will remain

Look, it’s unlikely we see Woods catch Jack Nicklaus’ 18 major wins, while it’s even more unlikely – nigh on impossible – that Woods hits the 160+ majors Nicklaus played in.

However, the idea of playing in 100 is not impossible for Woods.

Do you think golfers should receive a free drop from divots in the fairway?

In fact, if he can keep himself fit enough and clear of any surgeries, he could quite easily compete in all four in a calendar year and thus, come 2028, he’ll be in the 100 club.

Quite if he can make it, stay fit, and then play in and compete in these majors, remains to be seen.

But golf is a better game and spectacle with Tiger Woods involved and if he can edge towards the magic 100 number, then that 100th appearance will be quite the viewing.
