Brooks Koepka will not be playing on LIV Golf moving forward.

It was on Tuesday when the announcement was made that Brooks Koepka has left LIV Golf after a three-and-a-half year stint with the Saudi-backed golf league.

Koepka cut a frustrated figure out on the golf course during the 2025 LIV Golf season.

Then rumors of a PGA Tour return for the 35-year-old Floridian began to circulate in early December.

Is this the end of LIV Golf?

Something quite obviously wasn’t right with the American in 2025.

Koepka recorded only two top-10 finishes on LIV Golf this year and he missed three out of four cuts in the majors too.

He clearly believes that playing on LIV Golf has had a detrimental effect on his career and he has made the decision to change that.

The big winner from Brooks Koepka leaving LIV becomes clear

Koepka’s future in the game is very much up in the air right now.

Although Koepka would obviously love to return to the PGA Tour immediately, that is highly unlikely to happen.

All players who left to join LIV in 2022 were handed five-year bans by the PGA Tour, so that means the five-time major champion might have to wait until 2027 before he can even think about returning.

The harsh truth of the matter is that the PGA Tour don’t need Koepka. They have flourished since he left to join LIV Golf in 2022.

The problem for the 35-year-old is that he needs somewhere to play in 2026, in order to keep his game sharp.

That’s why the DP World Tour could end up being the biggest winner out of all of this.

Koepka played four events on the DP World Tour in 2025, and he has always been a big supporter of European golf.

The American played on the DP World Tour’s feeder tour – The Challenge Tour – more than a decade ago now.

Now the DP World Tour have a great opportunity to increase their viewership figures by offering Koepka the chance to compete on their circuit in 2026.

What Brooks Koepka previously said about the DP World Tour

Koepka is quite clearly a huge fan of the DP World Tour.

Back in 2019, he spoke about his experiences in Europe.

He said: It’s a fun place to be, a fun place to come back. It’s always nice to bring those memories back.

There’s a lot of guys you don’t get to see very often, and you made some great friendships over here when I was playing, and not getting to see them all the time isn’t always fun. But when you come back and see everybody, it makes it feel a little bit more special.”

I think a lot of them (memories) are just from traveling week-to-week.

The camaraderie over here is a bit different. I like it more, personally, than I do in the States.

Everyone’s always laughing, joking. The attitude over here is a little different. The sense of humour over here is a little better … so it’s quite fun.

My favourite places that I’ve been over here: Crans (Omega European Masters) I think is probably one of the most beautiful places. Prague and Sweden are pretty nice, too.

I think that’s what makes it so much fun in my career. I really enjoy that aspect of seeing different cultures, being a part of it.

I try to come over here as much as I can, and I enjoy playing over here. It’s fun.

“It seems there’s 30 or 40 guys on a flight, basically the whole flight is everybody, you know, players, caddies, things like that.

Judging by those comments, it would be no surprise to see Koepka playing regularly on the DP World Tour in 2026.
