LIV Golf appear to be reeling right now while the PGA Tour continues to go from strength to strength.

Brooks Koepka left LIV Golf in December and he has already been accepted back on the PGA Tour.

Meanwhile, LIV have been unable to sign any big-name players from the PGA Tour.

Some have even suggested that Koepka’s exit will signal the beginning of LIV’s decline into complete obscurity.

There may well be some truth to that.

However, there is a sure-fire way for LIV Golf to silence their critics and that is to go out and sign a superstar player from the PGA Tour.

One name in particular could well be attainable due to something that his father said about LIV Golf seven months ago.

LIV Golf’s answer is obvious after what Xander Schauffele’s father said

Back in June, Xander Schauffele’s father, Stefan, spoke with The Times about his son’s links to LIV Golf.

He made numerous bold claims about Schauffele’s career in the game so far.

However, one comment made by Stefan Schauffele really raised some eyebrows.

The Times explained: Schauffele senior confirmed LIV Golf offered his son more than $150m to join the PIF-backed breakaway.

LIV could have doubled that figure and the answer would have still been ‘no’, he said. The lack of world ranking points and being potentially frozen out of the major championships wasn’t worth it.

‘The lack of world ranking points’. That sentence will become really interesting all of a sudden if LIV do, in fact, manage to acquire recognition from the OWGR.

The OWGR provided an update on LIV’s application at the end of 2025, highlighting how the process is still ongoing.

LIV need to make Xander Schauffele statement

The bottom line here is that LIV need to make a statement.

Koepka leaving them was a crushing blow and there is no guarantee that Bryson DeChambeau or Jon Rahm will extend their current contracts with the Saudi-backed outfit.

Who can LIV Golf sign to save their offseason?

A quote graphic reading: "We have a player that we'll announce here shortly. I'm very excited.- Phil Mickelson on a new signing for his HyFlyers GC LIV Golf team."

Signing Xander Schauffele would undoubtedly see LIV Golf return to prominence on the professional golfing scene.

Who knows, Schauffele may reject any offer that LIV send his way.

However, money talks and perhaps the 32-year-old could be tempted to join the Saudi-backed golf league if they do receive approval for world ranking points.

The time is now for LIV to act. Will they make a move for a big star? Or will they continue to sign average, middle of the road journeymen?

If LIV Golf decide to go down the path they are currently treading, it could be a bleak future for them.

With 10 PGA Tour wins to his name, Schauffele is undeniably a huge star in the game and LIV poaching him would be a major confidence boost for them.
