Matt Fitzpatrick won for the second time at the RBC Heritage on Sunday after beating Scottie Scheffler in a sudden-death playoff.
Incredibly, half of Fitzpatrick‘s PGA Tour wins have now come at the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links.
Fitzpatrick’s career has turned around since the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black in September.
Who’s the better player right now, Fitzy or Cam Young?
They have both been in exceptional form this season…
The 32-year-old Englishman had started to play well a couple of months before that but his performances at Bethpage gave him the confidence he needed to reach the very highest level.
In 2026, Fitzpatrick has two PGA Tour wins to his name and a runner-up finish at The Players Championship.
He is now ranked as the world’s third best golfer and it could actually be argued that there is nobody in the game who is more in-form than him right now.
Fitzpatrick played some exceptional golf at Harbour Town Golf Links last week and his actions after proved what a class act he is.
Matt Fitzpatrick showed real class after winning the RBC Heritage
Fitzpatrick was the toast of Hilton Head Island on Sunday night – a place he vacationed to with his family many times when he was just a young boy.
The Englishman addressed the media after beating Scheffler in a playoff at Harbour Town, and he responded when asked what he made of the crowd’s vociferous support of the world number one.
“No, it didn’t get out of line in terms of no one was shouting on backswings or anything like that, which was great,“ he said.

“I’m all for it. I love the people — they’re supporting Scottie; that’s great. You want golf to have an atmosphere in my opinion.
“I grew up watching football. I’m paid so much money to be out there in front of those crowds, having them chanting at you every week, it’s a great feeling.
“However, there’s no better feeling than coming out on top against that. There isn’t a better feeling.
“To describe it in my terms, it’s kind of winning away against your biggest rival. Nothing to do with Scottie or the players; it’s the fans that have sort of spurred me on there.
“It was nice to obviously win, but it never crossed the line. It was just loud. Just loud.“
Matt Fitzpatrick raised the bar at the RBC Heritage
It would have been so easy for Fitzpatrick to complain about the fans’ support of Scheffler because, after all, it was very loud at times.
However, you could see that the Englishman thrived on the crowd’s backing of Scheffler.
He flourished when many would have reverted into their shells and capitulated under the pressure.
Fitzpatrick has proven himself to be one of the PGA Tour’s most clutch players this year.
In addition to that, the Englishman has shown that he is one of the most classy golfers on Tour.
Fitzpatrick handled the RBC Heritage playoff situation against Scottie Scheffler so well and he deserves huge credit for that.
