Everyone associated with LIV Golf will be looking to put their best foot forward as they attempt to secure new investment.

LIV Golf is facing a race against time to land the funding that will allow the league to continue beyond this season. Of course, the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia is set to withdraw their support later this year.

There does appear to be some optimism about the league’s future. LIV Golf is finally the underdog the players had been trying – and mostly failing – to convince the world it was for several years.

But the problem is that the PIF invested billions without making much progress. LIV has seen some success at a handful of events. However, the league’s momentum has completely stalled over the last few years.

LIV Golf dealt a further blow by the weather delay at the Memorial Tournament

So convincing investors that there is enough potential is going to be difficult. Speaking at the end of 2025, Rory McIlroy predicted that LIV would need another $5 billion just to stay exactly where it is right now.

What will not help convince prospective investors of LIV’s potential is that the final round of their latest event at Valderrama will now be going up against the remainder of the third round of the Memorial Tournament.

Saturday’s play at Muirfield Village was halted early due to the weather. The leaders have more than 12 holes left to play of their third round.

Crucially, play will resume just half an hour after LIV’s final round has kicked off.

LIV’s already underwhelming ratings will almost certainly take a big hit today. Not only will golf fans be able to spend all day watching the action from Muirfield Village, but the final round of the US Women’s Open is also perfectly poised.

Nelly Korda is tied for the lead heading into Sunday at Riviera.

Viewing figures from Valderrama are unlikely to excite potential investors in LIV Golf

LIV is probably not helped by Jon Rahm being five shots off the lead, while Bryson DeChambeau is a further four shots back.

Perhaps LIV’s viewing figures will surprise some. However, it is hard to see many golf fans choosing to watch LIV over the PGA Tour or the second major of the year on the women’s circuit.

So when the ratings do come out, they could potentially be something of a wake-up call for those looking to invest in LIV about the league’s place in the current game.
