Jordan Spieth is no stranger to being the player many fans are talking about, so it will come as no surprise to the three-time major champion that he is attracting criticism heading into the 2026 season.
The 2025 season proved to be underwhelming for Jordan Spieth. There was excitement when Spieth finished fourth at the WM Phoenix Open. But that proved to be his joint-best finish of the year.
Spieth ultimately failed to make it past the first FedEx Cup playoff event. And after not playing a single tournament in the fall, the 32-year-old fell to 61st in the standings.
Do you think Jordan Spieth will be deserving of invites into the signature events in 2026?
Crucially, that means that Spieth has fallen outside of the Aon Next 10 and will not be guaranteed of a start at the first two signature events of 2026.
Jordan Spieth will be hoping to silence his critics ahead of the 2026 season
However, everyone knows that Spieth will more than likely be at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the Genesis Invitational.
Spieth has been criticised for not playing again after August. It looks slightly arrogant from the American to not play at all across the final weeks of the season because he is seemingly aware that he probably does not need to be in the Aon Next 10 anyway.
Jordan Spieth on receiving sponsor invites to PGA Tour events
Spieth is a player who moves the needle when it comes to television ratings. So some will feel that he deserves the spots anyway.
But he perhaps has one more golden opportunity in 2025 to prove that he should get the opportunity to tee it up in the signature events.
The Hero World Challenge is not exactly a marquee tournament on the calendar. It is not even an official event on the PGA Tour schedule.
However, it is a week which can whet the appetite for the upcoming season. Scottie Scheffler won in some style 12 months ago. And he is set to make his first appearance in a tournament since the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black.

Spieth received an invite to Tiger Woods‘ event this year. He previously won the tournament back in 2014.
It is a brilliant opportunity for Spieth to show that he has used his off-season wisely and potentially given himself the tools to potentially end a winless run which is rapidly approaching four years.
Should he go on to contend in Albany, then those who question the decision to invite Spieth to the first two signature events next year will be silenced.
Obviously, the debate over sponsor invites will rumble on for some time to come. But you cannot blame those who put their money into the PGA Tour wanting the biggest names at their events.
And if Spieth can show signs of his old magic at the Hero, then there will be all kinds of interest in what he could potentially do in 2026.
How Jordan Spieth wrote his name into the record books at the Hero World Challenge
Spieth actually made history when he won the Hero World Challenge in 2014. He reached a score of 26 under par and ended up winning by 10 over Henrik Stenson.
Not only was that the best winning score the event has seen, but it was also the largest margin of victory at the Hero World Challenge.
Who will win the Hero World Challenge?
Both Bubba Watson and Scottie Scheffler have subsequently won on 25 under par.
Spieth’s memories of the Hero are not all positive however. In 2022, he finished last on six over par. And he was involved in a bizarre incident during the final round.
Spieth received a two-shot penalty after teeing off from the wrong tee box on one hole.
This time around, he will be one of the players probably hoping that Scheffler manages to get lost once or twice across the week.
