While so much is up in the air when it comes to LIV Golf right now, Jon Rahm has provided a little clarity regarding his own future.
There are plenty of eyes keeping track on what is next for Jon Rahm. The Spaniard is arguably LIV Golf‘s biggest asset. But with doubts over the league’s future persisting, it remains to be seen if he will be there much longer.
That is why Rahm appears to have made an incredibly smart move in agreeing a deal with the DP World Tour.
Jon Rahm deserves some credit as a deal with the DP World Tour is announced
Rahm and the DP World Tour were previously involved in a standoff, with the two-time major champion not accepting the deal that many of his peers signed up to.
The 31-year-old was annoyed that he would have to agree to play six DP World Tour events, including two that were decided by those at Wentworth.

But the stalemate has now ended. It was announced on Tuesday that Rahm has now reached a deal that will ensure that he is able to play at the 2027 Ryder Cup.
According to James Corrigan of The Telegraph, Rahm has settled his fines for playing LIV events, while he has agreed to play in five tournaments on the European circuit.
It is a massive win for the DP World Tour. But Rahm also deserves credit.
Rahm could not afford to close off any pathways amid doubts over LIV Golf’s future
While he has not got everything he wanted, he has surely made the right call to get a deal done before all of his leverage has gone.
It is not yet clear what his pathway to the PGA Tour would look like if he did decide to leave LIV. It may well be that he has to follow Patrick Reed‘s example and serve a suspension from his last LIV event.
If he did not have that opportunity to play on the DP World Tour, he would potentially be in big trouble. There was a danger that he could have thrown away an entire year of his career.
So much is uncertain right now that it would have been naive for Rahm to close off any potential pathway. It may yet be that he stays with LIV for the long haul and does the bare minimum to support the DP World Tour.
But Rahm is probably not in a position to shut that door. So while his pride may have taken a hit with this news, it does appear to be in his best interests.
