One of the most exciting storylines to emerge from the US Women’s Open at Riviera earlier this month was Charley Hull finishing in a tie for second after a stunning charge over the weekend.
Charley Hull was a Nelly Korda bogey away from ending up in a playoff with the world number one and Gaby Lopez. And when you consider how the Brit performed against Korda in their singles clash at the 2024 Solheim Cup, it should have come as no surprise if Hull emerged victorious in the Pacific Palisades.
What do you make of the planned changes to the PGA Tour?
What do you like? What concerns you about the changes?
Hull gained four shots on Korda over the weekend. Unfortunately, she left herself with just too much to do after the first two days. She was actually just two shots away from missing the cut.
Sadly, the 30-year-old was not so fortunate this week at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. She missed the cut in a major for the first time since the 2025 Chevron Championship.
With that, many will be hoping that Hull addresses a problem that has also impacted Scottie Scheffler this year.
What Charley Hull has only done once on the LPGA this season
Of course, Scheffler has had a superb year considering that he has only won once on the PGA Tour.
He is inside the top three for scoring average in each of the last three rounds. However, he is 57th for first round scoring average this year.

Scheffler has often left himself too far back to make up the ground required to win more often. Funnily enough, one of the most impressive comebacks of his year came at the Genesis Invitational, also at Riviera, when the four-time major champion only made the cut on the number.
Hull is tied for 64th on the LPGA this season for first round scoring average. She is nearly three and a half shots adrift of Korda, who is currently second in that category.
Incredibly, she remains well outside the top 50 for scoring average in rounds two and three, but then sits in fifth for the final round – one spot higher than Korda.
Charley Hull is too good not to win a major during her career
Hull has broken 70 in just one of her 10 opening rounds this year. That is nowhere near good enough for one of the most talented golfers on the planet.
It would be a golfing travesty if Hull failed to win a major in her career, particularly having finished second five times previously.
Finding a way to get off to faster starts could prove to be the final piece of the puzzle.
