LIV Golf has always been very good at getting the vast majority of their players to publicly back the league whenever they have come in for criticism from the wider golfing public.

LIV Golf is fighting a losing battle when it comes to silencing all of the talk surrounding the league’s future. It definitely does appear that the days of LIV as we currently know it are numbered.

Do you think Bryson DeChambeau can compete for majors not playing on the PGA Tour?

If anything, a number of their players have gained greater credibility by being much more open about their uncertainty over what the future holds.

Bryson DeChambeau does LIV Golf no favours ahead of the PGA Championship

Jon Rahm gave some intriguing answers in his press conference ahead of the PGA Championship.

Bryson DeChambeau, meanwhile, did not speak to the media ahead of the second major of the year.

DeChambeau will have almost certainly been asked to take part in a press conference. Not only is he LIV’s biggest star, but he has also finished inside the top four at each of the last three PGA Championships.

He is LIV’s biggest ambassador, so it is certainly a blow for the league that he has snubbed the chance to publicly defend them at Aronimink.

Obviously, DeChambeau will have his reservations. His stock has probably fallen slightly since his US Open victory in 2024 when he had an argument to be considered the most popular golfer on the planet.

And he probably cannot say too much about LIV’s future, even if he has any sort of inside information.

But LIV needs their propaganda machine to churn like never before – which is saying something.

DeChambeau not speaking to the media and providing an update on where his head is at will only add to the speculation that he is looking into how he can get away as quickly as possible.

Bryson DeChambeau’s future could go a long way in determining LIV’s fate

DeChambeau is likely to have quite a big say on what LIV looks like in the future.

His contract expires at the end of the season. So it would be music to the ears of potential investors if they regularly hear that he is ready to give LIV every chance to convince him to stay.

That message would be much more powerful in a press conference ahead of a major. Whether they like it or not, there are probably not too many golf fans watching his media commitments with LIV.

DeChambeau deciding to not speak to the media in the first half of this week potentially speaks a thousand words.
