Zach Johnson shares his view on why so many young golfers are winning right now

Speaking in his flash interview after the John Deere Classic finished, Johnson was asked why he feels so many youngsters are now winning.

“We can go down that hole. I think it’s a combination of a lot of different things. I think the attraction because of Tiger Woods for the younger generation is part of it. You talk to some of these kids about who they grew up watching and it’s Tiger,” Johnson said.

“I watched him too, except I was competing against him, which was a bit unfortunate and beautiful at the same time I should say.

“I think it’s that and technology has had something to do with it, but it doesn’t matter which generation you are and technology, there is something there.

“So I’m going to go with the knowledge of the game and wisdom of the game when it comes to coaching, the mechanics of the golf swing, training for power is part of it and then the physical side. The actual, proper, specific work out designed for a golfer.

“When I got out here golf fitness had surfaced but it was very rudimentary and I would even say infrequent, now what we have our hands on and can access on a weekly basis relative to what we had 20 years ago is significant. It’s all of that morphed into one.”
