PGA Tour mega star Xander Schauffele has shared how his first ever hole in one playing golf actually came when he was a professional.
Most golfers on the tour and those who just play for fun have likely had their first hole in one away from the glitz and glamour of the PGA Tour. A number of tour pros have made one as kids, while some have done it later on in life.
However, there can be few who have actually made it onto the PGA Tour before grabbing their first hole in one. That is, unless you are Xander Schauffele.
Speaking on on the PGA’s official account on X, the 30-year-old revealed that his first ever ace actually came in the 2019 Tour Championship at East Lake.
“On tour, at East Lake, my first hole in one, ever. Came at a really nice time. Five iron, number nine at East Lake, 230-240 yards or something like that. Hit a five iron, pulled it up a couple of feet, covered the bunker a foot rolled in like a putt. I was not upset that it happened in that tournament,” Schauffele said.
Schauffele finished runner-up in that tournament, as his miraculous hole in one proved in vain. Remarkably, other players such as Rory McIlroy, have only ever had one on tour as well.

For us amateurs, and even the pros too, getting a hole in one is the stuff of dreams on the golf course.
Of course, for the pros, it can make a huge difference to their scoring in any given round and that’s the most important part for them.
But in general, the idea you can simply say you have achieved it is massive for anyone who plays the sport.
Quite remarkably, Robert Allenby and Hal Sutton have both hit ten hole in ones in their PGA Tour careers, according to GiveMeSport.
