Jordan Spieth is renowned for trying the most weird and wonderful methods to help improve his game, and Xander Schauffele has proven he’s not averse to it either.
Spieth has struggled on the PGA Tour over the past few years really, and has not won since his victory at the RBC Heritage in April 2022.
And up until his win in Japan two weeks ago, Schauffele went through a period where he really struggled as well.
Both players will be looking to improve significantly during the 2026 season, and in order to achieve success next year, they will have to work extremely hard over the next couple of months.
The two Americans are big fans of one another, with Spieth claiming he had been amazed by Schauffele’s ability to add more speed to his swing.
It seems like the 2024 Open champion is a big fan of the Dallas native as well, specifically his attempts to make marginal gains.

After playing at The Sentry in January, Schauffele was then forced to miss out on the next two months of the season after suffering a small cartilage tear and an intercostal strain.
However, while he was recovering, he put his time to good use by keeping a close eye on his friend, Mr Spieth.
When speaking on the Earn Your Edge Podcast, Schauffele shared how he enjoyed watching Spieth play on television while he was out of action with an injury at the start of the year.
He said: “I watched Jordan in Phoenix when I was hurt. I don’t watch too much golf but you go through phases of being in a weird place when you’re hurt.
“Whenever I need the tickle, I watch Jordan out there doing some crazy rehearsals to some but it put him in a nice place.
“He has that sickness to him too, where he’s going to fully commit, I saw it on TV.“

Spieth and Schauffele both endured frustrating 2025 seasons on the whole, but the 2024 double major winner finally got that all-important victory under his belt.
