Wyndham Clark has shared his thoughts on the PGA Championship venue, Quail Hollow, ahead of the tournament.

Clark finished joint-63rd at the recent Truist Championship, where Sepp Straka beat Shane Lowry and Justin Thomas to win.

And he’s not finished in the top 10 since the Houston Open in March, so his chances this week are slim. But he does have two things in his favor.

The 31-year-old has already won at Quail Hollow in his professional career, and he’s lifted a major championship trophy before, too.

Wyndham Clark’s opinion on PGA Championship venue Quail Hollow

Most PGA Tour golfers agree that Quail Hollow, where Rory McIlroy holds the course record, is an excellent venue.

Clark feels the same way about the PGA Championship host, where he won the Wells Fargo Championship in 2023.

Indeed, he explained why he believes the course suits his game, which is a positive sign ahead of the first round on Thursday.

“I feel like I play better at courses that visually stimulate me, and I think that’s one of the prettiest golf courses we play,” Clark said.

“There are so many beautiful doglegs and risk-reward par fives. So I love that part of it. It’s a ball-striking golf course for sure, and it’s very tough around the greens.

“So you have to think a lot, and I like courses where you have to think. So, all that combined, it’s an amazing place and obviously, that’s where I got my first Tour win.”

Wyndham Clark’s strange major championship record

Clark hasn’t had the consistency in major championships that you would expect from a top 20 player.

Of course, the world number 17 won the 2023 US Open, to his credit, but he’s never finished better than 33rd besides that.

Just last season, Clark missed the cut at The Masters, the PGA Championship and the Open Championship, and came 56th at the US Open.

He made the weekend at Augusta National this year but was never in a position to contend, further prolonging his barren run outside of his US Open victory.
