The PGA Championship is set to start on Thursday morning, but one top-50 ranked player will not be playing at Quail Hollow.
There hasn’t been a PGA Championship in history that has created as much excitement as this one at Quail Hollow before the tournament has even teed off.
The likes of Scottie Scheffler, Masters champion Rory McIlroy and LIV Golf star Bryson DeChambeau enter the tournament as the front-runners to win the Wanamaker trophy.
It will be an incredibly difficult test of golf this week, and the greens at Quail Hollow are said to be still very firm, despite all of the rain that has fallen on the golf course.
The field at The PGA Championship this week is arguably the strongest in golf.

However, one top-ranked player will not be competing in Charlotte, North Carolina over the next four days.
Sahith Theegala withdraws from the PGA Championship
World number 31 Sahith Theegala will not be teeing up at Quail Hollow this week.
The 27-year-old withdrew from the Truist Championship last week with a neck problem.
And that obviously hasn’t improved sufficiently for him to compete in The PGA Championship.
Theegala has really struggled on the PGA Tour this season, with zero top-10s to his name and only two top-25s.

Maybe he just needs a few weeks off now to recover from his neck problem and reset again when he’s healthy.
Theegala’s replacement announced at The PGA Championship
The PGA Tour star’s place has already been taken.
Alex Smalley will replace Theegala in the PGA Championship field at Quail Hollow.
Theegala will be incredibly frustrated that his body has failed him on the eve of the second major championship of the year.
However, one man’s disappointment is another man’s opportunity.
And Smalley will be looking to grasp that chance with both hands this week.
