Tyrrell Hatton carded a second round of level-par 72 at the Abu Dhabi Championship and is now six-under par for the tournament after 36 holes, eight adrift of the leaders heading into the weekend.

Hatton is a wonderfully gifted golfer but he certainly has real problems controlling his anger out on the golf course.

That said, Gary Player recently claimed Hatton’s short fuse isn’t always a bad thing on the golf course, because it allows him to quickly move on from the bad shots he hits.

The LIV Golf star is competing in the Abu Dhabi Championship this week, in the hope of winning the golf tournament or securing a good finish at least in order to climb the world rankings.

Hatton felt ‘uncomfortable’ during his opening round in Abu Dhabi, despite firing a round of six-under par 66.

He would have felt a damn sight more uncomfortable during his second round on Friday after what happened out on the golf course.

Why Tyrrell Hatton lost his temper at the Abu Dhabi Championship

Hatton’s second round came to a halt on the par-five 11th hole in Abu Dhabi on Friday.

After a fine drive down the middle of the fairway, the green was in range for the Englishman on his second shot, but he blocked his approach way out to the right.

He hit his third shot to around 50 feet away from the pin before inexplicably four-putting from just six feet, finishing the hole with a double bogey.

Hatton gestured with his hands towards the gallery after he missed his par putt and did the same following his missed attempt for bogey.

At the time, it looked like he was sarcastically asking the fans if anyone wanted to take his next putt for him.

However, all became clear just minutes later as Sky Sports’ on-course commentator Wayne Riley explained exactly what Hatton’s issue was.

Riley said: The reason why Tyrrell was having a little dummy-spit was because he wanted to speak to a referee to complain about the pin placement.

Whether Hatton got his wish and actually spoke to a DP World Tour official is unclear.

The good and the bad from Tyrrell Hatton second round in Abu Dhabi

Hatton’s round of 72 could have been so much better, considering the fact that he was four-under after 10 holes.

The Englishman made five birdies and 10 pars on day two in Abu Dhabi.

However, he also made one bogey and two double bogeys – both of which came on par-fives.

Hatton’s second round at the Abu Dhabi Championship ended miserably after he found the knee-length fescue behind the 18th green with his third shot.

He took two shots to get out, before two-putting for a double bogey and the Englishman looked seriously unimpressed as he walked off the golf course.

The European Ryder Cup star didn’t look right after he took issue with the pin placement on the 11th hole and he never truly recovered from the seven that he made on the par-five.

Hatton will be hoping to make plenty of birdies over the weekend, but he will have to limit his mistakes if he is to finish anywhere near the leaders on Sunday.
