A video has emerged of a furious Sergio Garcia during his Open qualifying attempt at West Lancashire Golf Club.

The Spaniard is looking to book his place in the final major of the year after he narrowly made it through to last month’s US Open at Pinehurst No.2.

With LIV Golf players yet to receive world ranking points, Garcia has been forced to earn his place in the two open major championships.

And the 44-year-old’s round started in eventful fashion.

As documented by Bunkered.Com’s Ben Parson [via X], Garcia’s group were put on the clock early into their round on Tuesday morning.

The Spaniard, however, initially claimed he was having to wait for fans to move before hitting his tee shots.

Now, a video has emerged of the former Masters champion arguing with a rules official.

“You’re right, we’re always wrong,” he said.

Other notable Open qualifying attempts

Another significant name that is looking to qualify for The Open is Justin Rose. The Englishman has only missed one major championship since 2010 and will be looking to recapture his magic form from 1998 during his qualifying attempt at Burnham and Berrow.

Thomas Detry, who impressed at the US Open, and two-time Korn Ferry Tour winner Tim Wilding are also looking to qualify. Graeme McDowell, now with LIV, is also competing on Tuesday at Royal Cinque Ports.

Upon the conclusion of play, each venue will provide a minimum of four qualifying places for this month’s event at Royal Troon.
