The 16th hole at the Waste Management Phoenix Open is one of the biggest spectacles in golf and Rickie Fowler’s choice of shirt only added to the intrigue today.
Fowler was taking part in his second round after a rain delay meant yesterday’s rounds over-ran into the weekend.
In the end, it was a dismal few days for Fowler, who finished six over par and didn’t even make the cut.
However, he caught the eye with his choice of shirt on the memorable 16th hole in Phoenix that had plenty of golf fans talking.
Fowler, known anyway for his often outlandish outfits – including the memorable bright orange – donned a dirt bike shirt on the 16th tee, much to the delight of the fans surrounding the hole.
But there was some confusion over just why he was wearing that shirt.

Why Rickie Fowler wore a dirt bike shirt on the 16th at the Waste Management Open
Indeed, for the average golfer, seeing Fowler rock up like this will have caused some confusion.
However, per SportsKeeda, there is a simple explanation for why Rickie Fowler was wearing the dirt bike shirt.
They explain that Fowler was simply showing his love and support towards the Red Bull GasGas Tech3 team for the 2024 season. Fowler is a big fan of motocross and was simply just showing the team some support with this gesture.
While it might seem a bit odd, the 16th hole at the WM often sees players go for something a bit different, given the spectacle of the hole.
Of course, Fowler’s choice of attire he ended up being the most memorable thing for him to take out of the last few days in Phoenix.
Fowler had enjoyed a bit of a resurgence last year but looked way off it here. The 35-year-old will be hoping to play himself into some sort of form soon, with The Masters only months away.
