YouTube content creator Luke Kwon has attempted to beat world number three Lydia Ko off the back tees at Olympic Cub in San Francisco.
The Olympic Club from the very back tees stretches out to just over 7,200 yards, so Ko faced an incredibly difficult task of beating Kwon – a plus five handicapper.
That said, the 28-year-old is one of the best female golfers on the planet, with three major titles and 23 LPGA Tour victories to her name.
Ko still holds the record for the youngest person, male or female, to reach world number one when she was just 17.
She won the AIG Women’s Open last year and has one LPGA win to her name this season, so it’s clear that Ko is still very much at the top of her game.
However, is she actually good enough to compete with an elite amateur male golfer on a 7,200 yard golf course?
Who won when Lydia Ko took on a male golfer from the back tees
Olympic Club is a truly wonderful golf course and it is always kept in immaculate condition.

The course in San Francisco has played host to the US Open five times, most recently in 2012 when Webb Simpson was victorious.
It is a par-71 for the members with 11 par-fours, four par-threes and three par-fives.
And Ko produced the goods in a very big way. She fired a round of one-under par 70 after coming home in two-under par 34.
While Kwon didn’t reveal what he shot, it was clear by the video that he came nowhere near beating Ko.
The three-time major champion shooting a round of one-under par off the back tees at Olympic Club really was mightily impressive.
Lydia Ko’s career LPGA Tour record
At just 28, there is still plenty more to come from the New Zealander.
Here are her career achievements to date:
| Achievements | Ko’s totals |
| Major wins | 3 |
| Wins | 23 |
| Top-10s | 115 |
| Top-25s | 169 |
| Money earned | $21.2 million |
Also, it’s worth noting that she won an Olympic gold medal in Paris in 2024.
She must be incredibly excited about what the future holds for her.
Ko is an elite player and she proved by beating Luke Kwon that any male golfer who thinks he’s capable of beating an LPGA Tour star off the back tees is severely mistaken.
