Scottie Scheffler is underway in his final round at the FedEx St Jude Championship but he is having to make do without his trusted caddie, Ted Scott.
Scheffler and Scott have formed one of the most formidable duos in sport in the last few years.
Scott has been on the bag for the world number one for all his successes and it goes without saying that they are very much the envy of the golfing world in terms of player/caddie partnerships.
However, Scheffler will have to make do without his partner in crime in round four at TPC Southwind.
Scott has gone home to attend a personal matter, meaning Scheffler has had to move quickly to put someone new on the bag.
Thankfully, he’s found a partner in the form of experienced PGA caddie, Brad Payne.

Who is Scottie Scheffler’s replacement caddie at the FedEx St Jude Championship?
Thankfully for Scottie Scheffler, he is no stranger to working with or being around Brad Payne.
It’s widely reported that Payne serves as the ‘Chaplain’ for the PGA Tour due to his faith and he knows Scheffler both professionally and personally.
Payne is from Texas, just like Scheffler, and the pair are believed to be close off the course.
In terms of on the bag, Scheffler and Payne last worked together at the PGA Championship last year when Scott had to once again dash for family reasons.
Unfortunately, Scheffler’s round of 73 that day with Payne was his worst of the week.
Whether or not that is any sort of insight into how he’ll perform today, remains to be seen.
Who Brad Payne has caddied for on the PGA Tour
As mentioned, Payne is no stranger to golf at all and was actually a fine player himself in the college ranks.
Over the years, he has filled in or caddied more permanently for a number of players, including previously with Scheffler and notably with two-time PGA Tour winner Paul Stankowski.
Whether or not Payne will be quite as useful to Scheffler as Ted Scott is, remains to be seen.
Indeed, in a funny turn of events, things didn’t exactly get off to a great start for Payne, who dropped Scheffler’s towel the moment he set off with the bag.
Hopefully, this is not a sign of things to come for the duo!
