Golf fans were certainly spoiled during the 2024 season as both the PGA Tour and the LPGA saw a superstar emerge in the most emphatic fashion, with both Scottie Scheffler and Nelly Korda seemingly breaking all kinds of records every time they teed it up.
Certainly, the 2024 season is going to be remembered as the game-changer for both Scottie Scheffler and Nelly Korda. Scheffler won eight times worldwide, while Korda’s stunning fightback at The ANNIKA left her just behind on seven victories. She was also nearly flawless over the first two days at the Solheim Cup as USA regained the trophy in Gainesville.
Korda added a second major title at the Chevron Championship earlier this year after posting three consecutive rounds of 69 to finish two shots clear of Maja Stark. It was the 26-year-old’s fifth straight win on the LPGA, while she would make it six wins in seven starts one month later.

How LPGA players reacted to Nelly Korda dominating the 2024 season
Korda became the first world number one to win a major since 2016 when she won in Texas. And speaking on Golf Channel, Amy Rogers suggested that so many of the players reacted positively to seeing what Korda accomplishment during that winning run.
“It was really a moment that I think everyone was waiting for. To have this breakout moment by this American star on the LPGA tour and in such a dominant fashion was something really that we hadn’t seen for decades in women’s golf,” she said.

“And to see her come out and dominate the way she did; what really struck me was the players I spoke to, how they were responding to what Nelly Korda did this season on the course, and they were really inspired by her. There was sort of a motivation amongst the players to try and keep up with her, to keep pace. And I think there was a feeling of ‘hey, this is possible, I could go out and do this too’.
“So it was really interesting to see how the players responded wanting to keep pace and wanting to have their own moment like she was having as well.”
Why the US Women’s Open confirmed just how remarkable Korda’s season was
Korda’s form is almost more impressive because there were times during the year where they were reminders that she is still human. She missed the cut at the US Women’s Open after carding an opening round of 80 in which she made a 10 on her third hole of the day. And she would also miss the cut at the Women’s PGA Championship.
It was also a little surprising that she was not more of a factor on Sunday at the CME Group Tour Championship as Jeeno Thitikul and Angel Yin battled it out in a fitting conclusion to the season.
But that may be better for the LPGA; not quite knowing how Korda is going to fare at each tournament. It makes the moments where she does go on a run of five straight birdies on the back nine on Sunday all the more remarkable.
