Scottie Scheffler rounded out his 2024 in the most obvious fashion as he won the Hero World Challenge to make it nine wins in the year.

Scheffler produced a masterclass in ball striking to finish 25 under for the tournament and nine-under for the fourth round to hold off both Justin Thomas and Tom Kim.

The world number one is already looking imperious ahead of 2025 and with Scheffler saying his new claw putting grip is still a work in progress, the signs are ominous.

And speaking in the immediate aftermath of his win in Albany, Scheffler has suggested it’s time for a bit more relaxation before going again in 2025.

Speaking to the media immediately after holing out on 18 to finish at 25 under for the tournament, Scheffler was cool as ever about his next steps.

“Yeah, very satisfying. I did a lot of good stuff today on the course, played a really solid round of golf and got off to a really good start. Feels nice to take a little break and come back and continue to play some pretty solid golf and so yeah, pleased with the results this week,” Scheffler said.

Asked further how he reflected on 2024 as whole, Scheffler admitted he wasn’t overly sure and was looking forward to The Match with Rory McIlroy next week.

“I’m not really sure [how he’ll reflect on 2024]. You know go home, celebrate Christmas with the family we’ve got the match next week in Vegas so that will be a lot of fun, some good competition. So overall, just go home get some rest and continue to work on the things I need to for next year.”

Scheffler’s sudden change in technique with his putting has been one of the big talking points of the entire week.

But in the end, it worked out great and could be a worrying sign for the rest of the field.

It goes without saying, then, that Scottie Scheffler has put down his marker as the man to beat yet again and it’s already looking perilous for the chasing pack.
