Rory McIlroy picked up his first win of the season as he dominated the field at Pebble Beach to win ahead of Shane Lowry.
McIlroy produced the goods over the weekend and then duly delivered when it mattered down the stretch on Sunday to win the AT&T by two shots.
Dame Laura Davies believes McIlroy can win the Masters in 2025, and based on his performance at Pebble, it’s a distinct possibility.
For McIlroy on a personal level, it’s all about winning and keeping in contention. And going into his 16th full year on the PGA Tour, McIlroy is as keen as ever to win.

Rory McIlroy reacts after finally winning at Pebble Beach
McIlroy was straight off the green and into media duties after holing out on 18 and he was immediately asked about just what his goals for 2025 are.
And as expected, McIlroy is as determined as ever to succeed, with an early win a huge boost for him.
“I said to Harry coming up the last, start as you mean to go on,” McIlroy quipped. “I am just as determined this year as I have been in any of the other years I have been out here on the PGA Tour.
“To get this win this early means a great deal and hopefully just keep the momentum going into Torrey Pines in a couple of weeks time.”
McIlroy’s driving performance was particularly impressive, as he took lines others couldn’t to give himself the edge in the end.

McIlroy continues fine run of form as a PGA Tour player
There is a reason why Rory McIlroy is one of the best in the world and that is because he is consistent in his approach and ultimately, his results.
McIlroy has now won a PGA Tour event for an 8th season in a row, while his win at Pebble was also his 27th on the PGA Tour, putting him outright 22nd on the all-time list.
At 35, there is plenty of live left in McIlroy. Three more wins gets him above Lee Trevino on the all-time list and while he’s not going to catch Tiger Woods’ 82, he is writing his own story.
With McIlroy so desperate to win at Augusta, all eyes will now be on whether he really is on course to finally break that Masters hoodoo.
