America has a new star in the form of Jackson Koivun after his stunning performance during the Walker Cup underlined his undeniable quality.
Koivun is one of the bright young stars ready to take the PGA Tour by storm, and his game is tailor-made for achieving success in the modern era.
The 20-year-old Auburn University star has the golfing world at his feet, and his heroics during the Walker Cup at Cypress Point over the weekend rubber-stamped his standing as the best amateur golfer in the world.
Koivun will play on the PGA Tour in 2026 after earning his card through the University Accelerated program.
And the likes of Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy could be about to face some serious competition from the start of next season and beyond.
What PGA Tour players and caddies have been saying about Walker Cup star Jackson Koivun
Koivun is a sensational driver of the golf ball.
Considering his slight frame, he still manages to rack up average ball speeds of around 175 mph, and that will get even faster as he gets bigger and stronger.
His iron play is right up there with the very best, especially his distance control and as we saw during the Walker Cup, his short game is quite simply phenomenal.

He went out first in every session at Cypress Point and won three games, lost none and halved one.
Former PGA Tour player Smylie Kaufman has now revealed what players and caddies have been saying about the hugely talented 20-year-old, when speaking on the Smylie Show.
Kaufman said: “Jackson Koivun was my MVP. He is the leader of this team. He is the player they all look up to as far as being the guy to go out first in every one of these matches.
“He has already got his PGA Tour card through the accelerated programme and has won all the awards in his Freshman year.
“What he was able to do this week was pretty impressive. I was not surprised at what he did.
“From all the pros I talk to about Jackson Koivun and word around the street from caddies and other players is that this kid is the real deal.
“What we have seen in his last three PGA Tour starts, he has finished in the top 25 pretty much every single time. It just goes to show that his game is not only good enough for the top level of amateur golf but he is good enough right now to make a career on the PGA Tour.“
Jackson Koivun’s PGA Tour record as an amateur
Koivun has already played in eight PGA Tour events so far, all as an amateur.
The 20-year-old from San Jose, California, has already proven that he has what it takes to mix it with the very best players in the world.
| Results | Koivun’s totals |
| Events played | 8 |
| Wins | 0 |
| Top-5s | 1 |
| Top-10s | 2 |
| Top-25s | 3 |
| Missed cuts | 2 |
Expect him to hit the ground running on the PGA Tour next season.
Koivun will be flying high after his Walker Cup heroics and the fact of the matter is that he will begin the PGA Tour season with fans expecting him to win, such is his immense quality.
