Pat Perez seemingly confirmed that he has left LIV Golf with a recent social media post which featured a photo of a PGA Tour branded cup.

Given his outspoken nature, it was no surprise that Pat Perez was a vocal critic of LIV Golf when the league was starting out. However, Perez was one of several players to go back on his word and ultimately sign with the competition.

Do you think it’s now time their events were recognised by the OWGR?

The 49-year-old went on to play on LIV until the end of the 2024 season. Perez joined the broadcasting team for the most recent campaign.

It would appear, however, that Perez’s time with LIV has now ended.

What Pat Perez told Brandel Chamblee about LIV Golf

As well as the social media post to mark the new year, Perez also provided an update on his future when he bumped into Brandel Chamblee in December.

Of course, Chamblee has been outspoken in his contempt for LIV. So some may have expected the meeting to be somewhat frosty.

However, Chamblee revealed on the Straight Facts Homie Podcast that Perez was in no mood to defend the breakaway league.

“I ran into Pat Perez the other day, I was walking to the mall, and he was lovely. He’s left LIV. I think he told me he had a one year suspension, and then he was going to play the Champs Tour. And he was really looking forward to getting back playing on the PGA Tour. I’ve got to tell you, it was really nice talking to him as well as his wife. I know he wasn’t a huge star on the PGA Tour, but I missed his energy. LIV took some of the guys with rougher edges, and I think the tour became a little less interesting because of it,” he said.

“You need some of these people with a little rougher edge. He was headed towards some place in commentating in golf. I don’t know where it was. He had his own podcast, but he had some place, some voice in the game of golf, and it was interesting. He had something to say, wasn’t afraid to say it.

“So it was good to see Pat back. I don’t think I’m speaking out of turn here, but he didn’t have that many positive things to say about his experiences about the environment there. It’s unserious, is what it is. It’s just an unserious exhibition.”

A concerning sign for LIV Golf with players prepared to deal with punishments from the PGA Tour

It feels particularly harsh that Perez must seemingly serve the same suspension as some of the players despite not playing in a LIV event since 2024.

However, he is not the first player to be handed a suspension either without teeing it up in a LIV tournament or some time after their most recent appearance.

Is this the end of LIV Golf?

Wesley Bryan seemingly remains suspended by the PGA Tour after taking part in The Duels. Some had no sympathy for Bryan, with many LIV players also taking part.

Ultimately, the PGA Tour has to keep deterrents in place to try and stop players considering jumping to LIV. And the suspensions for the likes of Bryan and Perez seem to be among the harshest.

Having said that, it is perhaps telling that the likes of Perez and Brooks Koepka are seemingly prepared to face the consequences on their way out of LIV.
