A report has shared what Nike have told their other players about their future in golf after Tiger Woods announced his split from the brand today.

Tiger Woods and Nike have been one of the most iconic partnerships between an athlete and sportswear company sport has ever seen. Woods has been working with the brand for the best part of three decades.

What Nike have told their remaining golfers as Tiger Woods confirms split

According to The Telegraph, the American has earned £394 million from Nike over the duration of their partnership. And it would be fascinating to know how much the company have earned from having Woods wearing their apparel or using their equipment down the years.

One of the sport’s most famous moments probably became all the sweeter because of the sight of the Nike swoosh reappearing one final time as Woods’ chip shot from the back of the 16th green at the Masters just about found a way to drop into the cup back in 2005.

Woods today confirmed in a statement on Instagram that he will be moving on from the company.

The 48-year-old has played TaylorMade clubs since 2017 after Nike announced that they were not going to be making anymore equipment in 2016. And The Telegraph reports that TaylorMade are the early favourites to now strike a further deal with Woods.

Sportswear giant going nowhere

But Nike are planning to remain in the sport. The Telegraph reports that they have told their remaining players that they have no plans to pull out of golf. They continue to work with the likes of Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood and Nelly Korda.

It is going to be extremely strange to see Woods wearing another manufacturer’s clothing for this next stage of his career.

It was odd enough in Ryder Cups and President Cups when Woods would be missing the Nike swoosh from his outfits, and would have no say if he got to wear red on a Sunday.
