Those expecting Michael Brennan to look at all uncomfortable during the final round as he tried to secure a first PGA Tour victory at the Bank of Utah Championship were in for a surprise as the 23-year-old cruised to victory.
Of course, Michael Brennan is no stranger to winning this year. He had already secured three victories on PGA Tour Americas. With that, he received a sponsors’ exemption for the Bank of Utah Championship.
The youngster went into the final round two shots clear at Black Desert Resort. Brennan did indeed become only the seventh player since 1970 to win on the PGA Tour in their first three starts.
The win completely changes the trajectory of his career. He does not need to worry about playing on the Korn Ferry Tour. Brennan is now a member of the PGA Tour.
What Michael Brennan has achieved faster than Rory McIlroy after winning the Bank of Utah Championship
As well as winning on the PGA Tour inside his first three starts, there is another achievement which Brennan has managed in a quicker time than Rory McIlroy.
As noted by Nosferatu on X, Brennan has taken just over 60 weeks to go from outside the top 1000 in the world rankings to the top 50. He is now 43rd in the standings.

Brennan has taken just slightly longer than the likes of Xander Schauffele and Jordan Spieth. Meanwhile, Scottie Scheffler was not too much quicker either.
The remarkable statistics from Michael Brennan’s performance at Black Desert Resort
There is no question what the biggest strength in Brennan’s game appears to be, based on his performance in Utah.
He gained more than seven shots off the tee over the course of the week. Meanwhile, he averaged more than 351 yards for driving distance.
Brennan was also superb on the greens. So there are plenty of promising signs ahead of the 2026 season for the starlet.
| Category | Strokes gained | Michael Brennan’s ranking |
| Off the tee | 7.616 | 1st |
| Approach | 2.084 | 24th |
| Around the green | 1.087 | 27th |
| Putting | 5.392 | 8th |
| Total | 16.180 | 1st |
Obviously, he will be wary of getting carried away. He only needs to look at the struggles Nick Dunlap has endured in 2025 to see that winning on the PGA Tour does not mean that a player has figured everything out.
But Brennan’s leap up the world rankings puts him in amazing company. He will hope it is not the last time in his career.
