You do have to have some sympathy for Ben Griffin with the Procore Championship marking the second time this year that the 29-year-old has finished second to Scottie Scheffler on the PGA Tour.

Ben Griffin could have easily been a four-time winner on the PGA Tour in 2025. However, Scottie Scheffler held him off at The Memorial in June, while it was the same two players in contention to win the Procore Championship in Napa this past week.

Ultimately, a missed birdie putt on the last from Griffin handed the world number one his sixth title of the season.

Scheffler had gone into the weekend eight shots behind the 29-year-old. However, rounds of 64 and 67 were enough to get him across the line. There is an inevitability about Scheffler which the game has not seen for some time.

Certainly, Griffin appeared to feel that he could not have done a lot more to stop the four-time major champion on Sunday.

The pair embraced after the tournament in California, with Griffin clearly amazed by just how ruthless his countryman was.

“Good playing, dude,” Griffin said.

“Good job, brother. Keep up the good work,” Scheffler replied.

“Way to fight. You make everything,” Griffin added.

Of course, the pair will be teammates in the very near future with the Ryder Cup just around the corner. Griffin will make his debut in the event at Bethpage after receiving a captain’s pick from Keegan Bradley.

And it seems that Griffin’s fiancée Dana has summed up how all 11 of Scheffler’s teammates will be feeling in New York.

“I’m so happy we don’t have to play against you in a few weeks,” she told Scheffler in the clip.

Scheffler’s victory would have caught the attention of the European team as they made their way over to the States for a scouting trip at Bethpage.

Any hopes that he would have taken his foot off the gas after the FedEx Cup playoffs have been dashed. Scheffler has sent out an ominous warning.
