Shane Lowry is the clubhouse leader as it stands after battling the elements to finish two under par in his second round at The Open.

The popular Irishman managed to pull away a bit from Daniel Brown, who himself is hanging in there and remains well under par heading down the stretch – at the time of writing.

For Lowry, who has won The Open before, the conditions out on Royal Troon are just what he likes and he showed his class and experience by producing again.

Of course, Lowry’s round was not without a bit of controversy today either.

After finding the rough on 11, Lowry then hit a shocking second shot across the fairway and into some heavy bushes, which the Irishman assumed was lost.

He then hit a third shot – without calling it a provisional – onto the green to leave a good look at bogey.

However, a spectator then found Lowry’s ball in the bushes and the rules dictated that Lowry would have to play the original ball.

From there, Lowry took a drop and then came up short of the green with his fourth, before getting up and down in two to complete a double bogey six.

At the time, a messy situation ensured things were a tad edgy on the course.

And Lowry, in a somewhat out of character outburst, appeared to take aim at a cameraman.

What Shane Lowry said to the photographer after struggling on the 11th in round two of The Open

As is always the case with the modern golfer, a lot of their comments are picked up on by onlookers.

And that’s exactly what happened here.

Shared by the popular social media account, Nuclr Golf, Lowry could be heard letting rip at the cameraman.

“As I was over the ball I could just see you putting your f—in’ camera up. Just get out of the way. Just get back there. F—k sake!,” Lowry said.

Since then, Lowry has come out in what appeared to be an apologetic mood and looked to blame himself more than anyone.

But it just shows the perils of major golf and in the end, proves that things can get to even the most calm and laid back souls.

As we already know, Tyrrell Hatton has shared his frustrations with the course, while the weather was set to cause Rory McIlroy more headaches as well.
